Life Hack: All You Need to Know About CPR
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR is a life-saving and emergency procedure. It is often used when an individual stops breathing or someone’s blood flow halts. - The DO’S:
- Ensure that the victim is laying on a flat surface.
- Make sure the scene is safe for you to respond.
- Inspect if the victim is unconscious or conscious by asking them loudly, “Are you OK?”. If the victim does not respond, call 911.
- Check the current condition of the victim. See if they are seriously injured or badly hurt. If so, do not move the victim.
- Repeat the CPR procedure 30 times at a speed of 2 minutes.
- Keep your elbows straight during compression.
- The DON’TS:
- Do not leave the victim all alone.
- Do not bounce your hands when doing compressions.
- Do not lean on the victim.
- Do not forget to interlock your fingers during compression.
- Do not give too many breaths for compression. Only give 2 breaths every 2 minutes.
- Do not stop CPR unless the victim shows any signs of life or if the emergency team arrives.
